Softskills I learned

Though this project, I have learnt that proper and good teamwork is essential in completing and doing well for the project. Everyone contribution is important. The helps from the group also ensure that there are minimal mistakes and at the same time it help to reduce the burden on one shoulders.

Time managing is also another key skill that I have pick up through this project. As this project is very time consuming and there aren’t many resources available for us (Lab 8 and 9) since the labs are usually been used for classes. Proper and good time management is an important key that have constantly reinforce.

My Contribution

I am assign with the task to ensure that the AR, AP and GL system is properly and correctly set up. I also help to decide and select which entry is suppose to be entered in the correct batch list. For instance which entry is supposed to be entered as part of the invoice or receipts of the AR module.

One of my roles was to constantly check all the existing entries to ensure that all inputs are correct as we wanted. I also help by typing in most of the transaction.

I contributed in the answer to the theory question by identifying the main points. I help by entering all the details and example to the main points indentified.

As there is only 2 more days till the submission of the project is due. We decided that it was the time to post all our batches and do a print out of all the reports that were required for the hardcopy submission requirement.

The printers in the lab is constantly been occupied and as a result we waited till the evening before we start printing. We didn’t expect that there will be so much to print. In no time, all the reports is finally printed out.

July 1

Soon we were back at the lab doing our CAS project. This time instead of doing ACCPAC, we were busy filling up the GL data entry form. Filling up the form is equally tiresome.
After completing the GL data entry form, we started the theory questions immediately. The textbook was helping and it provided us with most of the answer.

The dateline for the project is getting near.

June 26

Initially, we wanted to finish up the reminding parts of the project after the face-to-face meet up tutorial. However, our files were infected with a virus and we had to call down the technicians for help. Thankfully our files were not damage but by the time it was done, it already 8 in the evening.
We went home without completing anything today.

June 16

After a nice 4 day break, we met up at the lab and continue the projects again. This time we created the recurring entries and balance day adjustments. It wasn’t long before the day end. It was a tedious task trying to ensure that we did not miss out or enter the wrong entries.

We were relief that this marks the end of the project as for now. We called it day by rechecking all the journal entries and make several amendments along the way.

June 12

It was the third straight day of crazy CAS project meeting. We were all dead beat when we arrive at the lab once again. The labs were still filled with the same old people. We have some light-hearted talk before starting the long day.
We started the day with the AR module. We created batches to record the entries for sales, sales returns and receipts. Soon we were completely done with the AR module, we did the same for AP module by creating batches to record for purchases, purchase returns and payment to AP vendors.
We ended the day by finalising all the entries in both the AR and AP modules. After 3 long days of hard work, we decided to take a 4 days break! We desperately needed a time off.

June 11

The next morning our group were back at the lab resuming our project. The day of work didn’t go smoothly as we hoped it would. We encounter several problems but thankfully the teachers were there to lend a helping hand.

We start the day by keying in all the opening balances for both the AP vendors and AR customers. After checking through the task we had to do the day before, we start entering all the GL Journal entries. Another day of hard work and we all left the lab with a smile.

June 10

Today was the first Cas Project meeting. Initially, i am quite reluctant to come to school early in the morning. As it was during the holidays, personally I would like to have some precious sleep.
To my surprise, at just 10 in the morning, the lab is already filled up with many other groups. With less exhaustion, the long and tedious process BEGINS.
After a gruesome 1 hour, we finally finished the opening entry for the GL batch list. I didn’t expect that it would be that long. We quickly continue with the setting up of the AP vendors and AR customers profile.
Without realising the time, it was 5pm by the time we finish doing our task. It have been a long 7 hours of hard work and we end day 1 by organising and work out all the journal entries for each source document.
